Cleaning your new perch:
We recommend only using cleaning vinegar and paper towels to clean our flat perches. Do NOT soak the perch in water, this will cause the grain in the wood to absorb water and will ruin the finish and the sanded surface.
Materials Used:
All of our perches are made from untreated and naturally sourced pine wood. Since the wood we buy is local, it will more often than not have a few knots and even imperfections. All the hardware used is stainless steel and is bought in bulk to ensure good prices for our customers. The threaded rod is held in using bird-safe wood glue to prevent the perches from being unthreaded.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
Birds can die from zinc poisoning, so all metal that birds have access to must be stainless steel. Metals that are galvanized have a zinc coating on the outside that can slowly poison your bird and eventually kill them. Before ordering anything for your bird, please do your research and make sure it is stainless steel!
Why does my bird need a flat perch?
Flat perches aren't just for disabled or arthritic birds, they can be helpful to all birds. Birds spend the majority of their time perched. Having their feet wrapped around a stick all day can be exhausting. A flat perch can give your pet the perfect spot to rest their feet and relax. The flat perch allows your bird to stretch their feet out and can help prevent arthritis as your bird ages.
Design Process:
These flat perches were originally designed when my bird was diagnosed with arthritis in 2019. Over the years I've been perfecting their design for my bird's comfort. Now that I have the time and resources, I'm making these for all sorts of feathered friends who may need them.
